This seminar will identify some common pitfalls for the unwary lawyer and talk about some PI claim trends as well as focusing on Lynne Cardow's experience of dealing with claims against solicitors and imparting tips on dealing with, or ideally avoiding, a professional negligence claim. 

 

Lynne has practiced exclusively in the area of Professional Negligence for over 10 years, having practiced in commercial litigation since 2001. She is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Professional Negligence. 

 

She is currently a Partner with BTO Solicitors LLP in the professional liability team and has over 10 years of experience as one of the panel of solicitors appointed by Insurers for the Law Society of Scotland Master Policy Scheme acting for solicitor firms in their defence of professional negligence claims. In her time she has dealt with cases covering the whole range of legal practice areas. 

 

She also regularly acts in professional negligence cases against other professionals including accountants and auditors, construction professionals (architects, civil engineers, structural engineers and mechanical engineers and contractors) and education professionals and institutions, including independent schools, Universities and Colleges. 

 

In addition, she has represented solicitor firms and individual solicitors in defending service complaints against them to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission and conduct complaints to the Law Society of Scotland.
