Message from Sheriff Principal Craig Turnbull
The Glasgow Sheriff Court programme will change with effect from Monday 29th August 2022. As a consequence, the Youth Court will sit on Wednesdays and Fridays (though not necessarily every Wednesday and Friday – it will depend on business levels). We will now follow the alcohol court model of new cases calling at 12 noon and existing cases at 2 pm.
The programme changes have allowed us to significantly reduce the number of sheriffs who will preside in the Youth Court. We will now have one sheriff and four summary sheriffs presiding – Sheriff Iain Fleming; and summary Sheriffs Bernard Ablett; Vincent Lunny; Diana McConnell; and Mark McGuire.
Those programme changes have also allowed us to ensure that each of the presiding sheriffs always sits on the same day of the week. Accordingly, Sheriffs Lunny and McConnell will sit on Wednesdays; and Sheriffs Fleming, Ablett and McGuire will sit on Fridays.
