Commercial Actions in North Strathclyde
On 1 April 2025 a commercial court will be inaugurated in the Sheriffdom of North Strathclyde which will enable parties engaged in a dispute of a commercial nature to opt to have the matter dealt with under Chapter 40 of the Ordinary Cause Rules 1993 before a designated sheriff with particular expertise in commercial litigation. The court will be based in Paisley but will serve all of North Strathclyde.
Please find below a copy of Practice Note No. 1 of 2025 which sets out the details for the operation of the commercial court. Pre-debate and pre-proof activity should take place online. Debates or proofs which take place in person will be heard at Paisley Sheriff Court or at any other court within the Sheriffdom if that is more convenient for parties and witnesses
