Where has law on a suspect’s reasonable expectation of privacy gone since Richard v BBC ? How does it interact with the modernised defamation law? A canter through the case law in the half decade since, including Sicri v Associated Newspapers in 2020, Bloomberg in the Supreme Court in 2022 and WFZ v BBC in June 2023.
About the Speaker: Rosalind McInnes (Principle Solicitor, BBC)
Rosalind graduated from Glasgow University LLB (Hons) Dip LP in 1991 and worked in private practice commercial litigation in Edinburgh before joining the BBC from Maclay Murray & Spens 25 years ago. She is the author of Scots Law for Journalists and of Contempt of Court in Scotland, co-author of Media Law in Practice and annotator of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. She is an accredited mediator. She has a Diploma in Business Administration from Leeds Bradford University and a Diploma in UK, EU and US Copyright Law from King's College London.
