Speaker: Rosalind McInnes
This seminar will look at the new statutory regime for defamation in Scotland in the Defamation and Malicious Publication (Scotland) Act 2021, together with the interaction between defamation and privacy law emerging in England and Wales.
Rosalind McInnes graduated from Glasgow University with an LLB (Honours) and Diploma in Legal Practice in 1991, qualified as a solicitor in 1993 and joined the BBC after seven years in private practice as a commercial litigator. She is Legal Director, BBC Scotland, and the author of "Scots Law for Journalists", "Contempt of Court in Scotland", the annotated version of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and various other works. She holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Leeds Bradford University, a Diploma in UK, EU and US Copyright Law from King's College London, and has lectured and spoken internationally on media law, including judicial training in Ukraine.
