About the Speakers:

Denis Garrrity, Terra Firma Chambers - Denis is a highly experienced and commercially focused advocate. He has developed a busy and interesting practice at the Scottish Bar, focussing on real estate disputes, commercial leasing, planning, and contract law. He is a member of the UK Property Bar Association.

He is ranked in the latest editions of Chambers & Partners UK and Legal 500: ""Very experienced, unrivalled knowledge on real estate litigation which makes him unique."  "He has real market insight in real estate litigation. He is a good technical lawyer and is very robust in his defence." (Chambers UK, 2023)

Denis is co-author of the student/practitioner book, ‘Dilapidations and Service Charge’ (E.U.P., 2019), and is a contributing author of student textbook ‘Commercial Law in Scotland’ (6th Edition, 2020). He is also a course co-ordinator at Edinburgh University on “Commercial Leasing”, an honours-level degree course on commercial real estate leasing.

Andrew Upton advises clients across both public and private sectors in relation to all litigious matters. His experience incorporates litigation at Sheriff Court and Court of Session level, principally contractual and property disputes, as well as actions at both the Scottish Land Court and the Lands Tribunal for Scotland. Andrew is ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners for Property Litigation, and sits as a part-time legal member in the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland (Housing and Property Chamber).
